Bad Leadership
People join a company but leave a relationship – usually the one they have with their leader or manager. Leadership is hard due to constant stressors and the unconscious expectations and fears employees have about those in positions of authority. Leaders are often promoted based on their success in individual contributor positions versus leadership or managers skills. Far too often this results in an inability to create cultures where employees thrive and teams are high performing. Leaders play and outsized role in how they, inadvertently, contribute to low psychological safety and poor organizational outcomes.
